A Short Break to Wellington – Family Photos8 Oct, 2015
With hubby working away in Oz and the school holidays upon us, cabin fever had set in. It was high time the boys and I got out of the city, head to the big smoke to do some exploring.
Wellington is a very easy place to visit.
Starting at Te Papa with the Gallipoli – The Scale of War exhibition, this was an incredibly moving experience. I highly rate it and if you haven’t seen it yet – go. It is so worth the effort. It gives a very raw and real account of this time in our NZ history.
Spending time on the waterfront of Wellington city is always a highlight. With a beautifully warm and calm evening as a backdrop, we wandered along people-watching enjoying the space and sights. When the weather is good in Wellys, this city is idyllic!
A trip up the Cable Car (OMG – there are techno lights now installed in the tunnels!), a downhill walk through the Botanical Gardens, onto the Beehive followed by a spot of shopping. A drive and explore around the coast and beaches – a busy few days left us a wee bit exhausted but happy-as.
Now just one small recommendation… The Margaritas at Sweet Mothers Kitchen are to die for!
